Q & A with the Artist

We are proud to showcase a variety of different kinds of performing arts at the fringe.

What is your show? What kind of performance is it? What is it about?

Of Darkness and Dreams is a dance-centered performance showcasing professionals currently based in Omaha. Audiences will be taken on a journey that begins in darkness and gradually transcends into light, exploring themes like loss, stagnation, hope, perseverance, and more along the way.

Fringe festivals are a place for art at all levels of creation. Where are you at in your process?

Is this a first draft? A previously produced piece? An experimental show? Or something else?

This show will include elements of past works, but these will just be pieces in what's a brand-new puzzle. It will be an exciting challenge to bring together a wide variety of ideas and artists to see how we can create a cohesive message.

Why did you submit your show to Omaha Fringe?

I want to see more dance in Omaha. I am hoping that this will open the door for more collaboration between the dancers and other artists and art organizations that all exist in Omaha. I also believe that dance can connect with audiences in ways that they might not realize or expect, so creating this performance for fresh eyes, hearts, and souls will be meaningful to me as part of my mission to always promote the incredible art form that is dance.

What are you hoping audiences will experience when they see your performance?

What can audiences expect to take away?

I hope the audience will see their own stories reflected in this performance, recognizing that all of us are connected by shared experiences with both deep darkness and abundant joy. It might just encourage them after the fact to reflect on what keeps their dreams alive and helps them stay inspired to find the light at the end of the tunnel.
